A good party should always include an elaborate, dazzling firework show, and
America's 250th is no exception! There will be double the fireworks and double the celebration in Tinley Park. The Village of Tinley Park and the Tinley Park Park District are joining forces to present two amazing firework displays, the first held at dusk on Friday, July 3 just south of the 80th Avenue train station. The second show will light up the sky at dusk on July 4 to bring the annual Independence Day Celebration at McCarthy Park to a spectacular conclusion.
Downtown Tinley Park is also dressed in red, white, and blue for the special occasion with this year's "Party in the USA" themed Benches on the Avenue public art project. Handmade by local artists, these creative benches line Oak Park Avenue adding a vibrant, colorful touch to the downtown! Whether you're looking for a patriotic photo opportunity or enjoying an evening stroll after dinner and ice cream, checking out these magnificent works of art is the perfect activity for all ages. The patriotic fun doesn't end when the fireworks fade. Later this summer, Harmony Square will host Movies in the Square featuring beloved films such as "Captain America," "National Treasure," "Remember the Titans," and "An American Tail" on select Friday evenings in August and September.
On top of celebrating America's big day, Tinley Park's annual Block Party celebration is happening on July 18 and 19 in and around Harmony Square. In true summer style, this event features live music on two stages, delicious food and drinks from local vendors, kids activities, and plenty of good times!
